But the Cochrane review of the same year inexorably concludes: "There is no clear evidence that melatonin reduces the number of episodes of delirium."

Therefore, the drug does not promise miracles: it can help you fall asleep earlier and reconfigure the mode under a different time zone or workdays, but not enough to win sleep without sleep – alas, no. Winter depression is also not in his power. Most likely, he will not save also from menstrual pains, epilepsy attacks, delusions, insomnia with dementia and many other ills.
But it is effective as a sleeping pill for jetlag, insomnia in people over 55 years old and, possibly, in children with neuropsychiatric disorders. It is hoped that it will reduce anxiety during surgical operations in adults (not surgeons, but patients) and will help you sleep longer during the day if you work at night. But, of course, it’s impossible not to sleep, no matter how much we strive to spend as much time on waking.
By the way, if you do not want to take the drug itself, try eating bananas, grapes or other plant foods before bedtime – melatonin is found in many fruits and fruits, although not in such quantities as in the preparation. He also has in oatmeal, turkey, milk and baked potatoes. And remember about the receptors on the retina: when it is light around, melatonin will be produced in a smaller amount.
